Yesterday was a very exciting day around our house. It was vet visit day for both...yes I said both... of the cats. I luckily talked my stepdaughter into going with me so I didn't have to console both cats by myself and had an extra pair of hands. Really I think she wanted to go because she has never heard them cry and was very interested in the weird otherworldly sounds that the cats make when they are very. VERY upset. I had decided to take them because my white cat, Patches, has been loosing her fur and I was worried about her. The hair loss started about 6 months ago and then we found a flea on her about 3 months ago. We have been treating her as well as Tempest (invisicat) and our dog Abby and no one in the house has flea bites or any sign of fleas but her. so we thought we had kicked the problem.. Turns out we were wrong. She still has fleas so the only thing I can do is keep treating her but then the vet says that the amount of fur she is losing indicates a psychopsomatic illness and she probably will have to go on antianxiety meds. Great I have a middled aged stressed out cat. And that was just the first cat.
Then we get to Tempest...
This handsome boy is also known as inviscat. For the first 6 years of his life no one but me had ever seen him. He hid all the time. I'm thinking some people actually thought I didn't really have a second cat. Turns out he is perfectly healthy. I would have expected him to the the one with the anxiety issues the way he jumps at every noise and is afraid of his own shadow but no it had to be the more adventerous cat.
Tempest was also my photo of the day today as the topic was animal/insect/pet. I love the way he sleeps with his face all covered up. When he gets scared and cant escape he reminds me of an ostrich because he will bury his face so that his eyes are covered and think that he is safe.
What are some quirks that your animal/insect/pet has?
As I was driving home from work today I realized that I had not looked at the photo challenge for today. I found that I was part panicked and part sad. Panicked that I would not have enough time or opportunity to find a good picture for whatever today's theme was and sad that I had spent an entire day and had not thought about my artistic creative side. I hadn't looked for the hidden things in every day life. The photo challenge has been, at least for me, a reminder to look beyond the obvious of everyday life to find the beauty within and so by forgetting for most of the day to look at the photo theme I had therefore forgotten to look for the hidden beauty, the hidden blessings in my everyday life. So when I finally did look I realized that todays theme was, letter. hand written letter, diary letter, alphabet letter so many possibilities but none that i could find to photograph. Then I remembered this great gift Jon and I had recieved for our wedding. One of my co-workers had made us our last name using architecture details for each letter. It is truly beautiful. So i had some commitments tonight and looked at all the roadsigns, trees, anything I could think of to see if they might possibly resemble a letter. I decided that our church pews looked a lot like the letter L but just could not find an angle that really captured the beauty so I gave up on that idea. I had almost give up completely when I was sitting on the deck staring at our fence that is damaged and has not been fixed yet wondering when my husband was going to find the time to fix it when I realized that I had found my letter....
Today was a day for a few of my favorite things. This evening started with with my photo challenge for the day which was, favorite color. Well that's easy, my favorite color is blue....then came the hard part how to take a great picture of something blue. Well I was wearing a blue shirt today but really not very interesting in a picture.....so i had to keep thinking and just when I thought I was going to have to skip todays (which was really bumming me out) I looked up. I started looking at the sky thinking wellll...duh.. how many times have I found myself looking up and thinking that the color of blue that the ski is is the most beautiful color there is soooo...
there you have my photo for today. I was so happy that my camera was even able to actually capture the great color of the sky. Still not the most artistic picture there is but it is beautiful to me and will always bring me a sense of peace when I look at it.
Then I met with an awesome group of women where we talked about all the things we face in life and how easy it is to look at the negative. How we always want for more and how hard it is to find contentment in what we have. We talked about finding joy in God and looking on the bright side of everything. How it is so important to change your point of view and then to start changing your life for the better. It is so nice to realize that other people are struggling with the same issues you are and that there are others who support you and will cheer you on! Thank you, Nina, Marjorie, and Sarah for an inspiring evening. It is something I truly needed today.
Then, as if that wasn't enough, I decided to go for a walk (now this is something that I do every day. I either walk or bike) but what was special about tonight was I had been thinking about how boring it is to keep walking the same route through the neighborhood with the dog. I like to bike so much more but then I can't spend time with our dog who has been alone all day and so I really wanted to do something with her. So I had the brilliant idea to throw her in the car with me and take her down to Eagle Marsh and walk her there. It is one of my favorite spots becasue the trail runs right through the marsh which is a natural area. It is peaceful and there are birds and wildlife and you aren't right in the middle of roads and houses and well concrete! She had a blast and was busy sniffing everything in sight. And I loved having the time outside with no interruptions to be just me.
All the great things today and my mood right now made me think of a card that I had made and wanted to share with you. Once again it uses all Stampin' Up products. If you would like a list of what I used or instructions on how to make it please let me know.
I loved creating this one vertically and horizantally. I hate to say it but this has been my go to card for several occasions recently. It is so quick to put together and can be adapted for anything. Even a GUY!!
and now for a peek at the inside.
All of the supplies that were used are fromm Stampin' Up. Contact me if you would like a supply list or to purchase the supplies needed to make this card.
I also have some big ideas about how to dress this one up and add more color and pop to it. Stay tuned this weekend!!!
During one of our recent Craftin Crazy sessions I decided to play with some retired paper from Stampin' Up and one of my favorite stamp sets that is offered in the new catalog. I ended up with some pretty cool results as you can see from the pictures below.
This one was my favorite variation using the My Friend clear stamp set from Stampin' Up. I had a great time just adding a few details here and there and finally using the paper I have been holding on to forever waiting for the right project.
If you like the items above contact me for details and supply list. You can also visit my Stampin' Up page at https://stampinglisa.stampinup.net.
Today's theme for the photo a day is garden. I had a great time with this one as I am so excited that we have our own garden this year. We have decided to grow Broccoli, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, and cherry tomatoes . Our big tomatoes got off to a slow start but seem to be producing now, our broccoli flowered but not going to get anything good from it, and our brussel sprouts are still growing. The biggest surprise is our cherry tomatoes. There are tons of them!!!!
